Expanding The Scholarship Questions

Posted on Jun 6th, 2008 by Matt : The Message Bearer Matt
So I'm ready to take on the world today! It's almost as if I found Gaia right when I needed to, and as I think about it more and more... it's almost as if it was made for me! Ha.

Let's take a look at those scholarship questions. They really had me thinkin' about what it is I wanted to do with my life and where I wanted to go.

1) What is your purpose in life?

I believe my purpose in life is to help others achieve their dreams and help support them in any way I am able.

Seriously, this is what I want out of life. It's part of the reason I'm headed into the field of Psychology, so that I can better understand the human mind and work towards a more united front to help me communicate to others the greatness that we can all achieve.

2) What do you love and how do you actions show this?

I love helping others through life to find the most joy in it as possible. I am a positive and determined person, fighting off every obstacle as hard as I can. I am not afraid to seek help from others and I urge them to call on me when they need help. I listen and encourage my friends when they talk about their dreams.

I have been told by some people throughout my life that the caring I feel goes away with age. Yet, I doubt them because I have only felt my compassion and care for others grow tenfold every day. Willing to work hard for the better, I have gone through many experiences in life that have humbled me to a great kindness of self.

I love the environment. I encourage recycling, as well as practice it to my fullest ability. In high school, we helped the Science Club earn money by recycling all my paper products including non-corrugated cardboard boxes, my old mail, school reports, and projects. I even encourage it and recycle at home. I love to grow plants, watching them to come to life from seedling to flower. I dream of finding a local tree-planting group.

I also enjoy encouraging others to promote themselves in knowledge and skill, artistic expression, and in their daily lives a better self. I believe in being passionate about what you do and taking the good with the bad, and learning from it.

I love the environment. I yell at my friend's constantly for throwing trash out their car windows, and constantly ask them to pull over for a trashcan if they really need to throw it away. It's quite ridiculous that a human being can't be patient long enough to wait to throw something away in the proper receptacle and instead has to mar the beauty of our planet. We live in such a throw-away society that it's become so easy to toss it, and forget it. I believe that when others start to see the big picture of what recycling and being "green" really is it'll be quite the greatest day for Gaia herself! :-) I love to work towards that day, and I constantly let my family and friends and neighbors and strangers know the greatness of that one action and what it can lead to for our environment.

I love astrology because it's so true! I own a book on all the different birthdays, and it carefully describes that day's (person's) strengths, flaws, inner forces, health-related issues, and even some things that they should meditate on. My whole being is spent each day to better myself and to help others better themselves. I have always been told by my mother that, "it has to start somewhere," and I truly believe I can be that starting point.

3) Write your ideal job description?

The greatest job I could ever have would be to spend my time helping others to achieve their dreams, reaching out to those who have not heard my message, and communicating with them the happiness that can be found in a willingness to help others.

I have a dream of creating a utopia of people willing to work with each other and guiding each other through a happy life, without reservation on: who you are, what you look like, what you study, what you believe, etc. I would like to see making life capable of being survived without gaining a profit to only yourself, but to everyone. A higher goal of morality and good will towards others is always a good start.

I would love to see people go back to the basics of survival, if only for themselves and their own good. If we could live interconnected in honesty and loyalty, without greed or corruption, it is my ultimate goal.

It's totally a dream. And it sounds pretty far-fetched, and I know that. But that doesn't mean that I don't want to see it happen some day! I just wish humanity would realize and be humbled by the work that it took to get to such a technologically advanced civilization. And some of the downfalls because of it.
Honesty and Loyalty are my two key rules in life. With honesty comes trust, comes loyalty, comes love. With Loyalty, comes trust, comes honesty, comes love. It's just the way I've seen the world work the best! I implement it into my daily life.

Those are just a few things of what I like to do. I like to be an activist for HIV/AIDS Awareness. I invite all my friends to know their HIV/AIDS status and to be aware of the increasing numbers of those afflicted and affected by it. I also want to work to take away the stigma of HIV/AIDS infected, and help people become more knowledgeable about the disease itself.
